TRANSITION RACING UPDATE (4/25/11)
Pietermaritzburg South Africa - World Cup DH # 1
Bryn Atkinson places 11th at the first round of the World Cup DH this weekend. placing just 1.5 seconds off the podium he is sitting well heading into round #2 in Fort William. This weekends course is renowned for is requirements of physical ability and effort. Bryn's efforts in the off season were proven here. He and Jason worked hard all week ketting his TR-450 perfectly dialed for the conditions on Sunday.
Bryn had this to say about the weekend:
"The first round of the World Cup was on this weekend in South Africa. All new venue and country for me, I didn't make it down here for the race in 2009. Pretty amazing experience. The weather was so nice all week, some evening showers throughout the first few days of practice kept the track slippery in the mornings but perfect after a bit of midday sun. The race venue was right in town, next to a mall, Marshy and I actually pitted out of the mall car park under the trees. A big spectator turnout, i think 10,000 was the number getting thrown around
I Qualified in 15th on Friday, wich was alright after limited practice due to some mechanical issues, and the 1 run an hour shuttle system.. For Finals, again perfect weather, I had a pretty pinner run, pedalled my ass off and finished 11th, only 1.5 seconds off 5th.. Tight competition right now. Pretty stoked to be heading into Fort William with some solid points, and having Jill and Scotty Sharples Join Marshy and I for the rest of the World Cups. Good crew!"
Next up for Transition Racing-
A few weeks off for training and then the Highland New Hampshire Pro GRT #2 - 14th and 15th of May. See you there!

Transition Factory Racing: Sea Otter Classic 2011.
Monterey, Ca- The Transition racing squad departed the Pro GRT and after a quick pit stop in Seattle for a thourough cleaning, made their way towards the Sea Ott. After a slalom bike tuning session in Bend the team rolling into Laguna Seca on Thursday am.
The schedule for gravity Professionals seems to be getting slimmer every year, and this year was no exception. One DH practice session on Friday, a full day of Slalom on Saturday, and time for maybe two runs down the DH course before racing on Sunday requires quick assimilation to courses and conditions. The Weather was a treat coming from the wet and cold PNW. The forecast was accurate through the event calling for temps in the 60's and sunny. The team had a successful practice session in the am, then rolled over tothe Fox Racing Shox booth for an autograph signing. These are a great way to connect with the fans and hang out with them for a while.
Saturday was Slalom day. 2 hours of practice in the am rolling straight into qualifying, a three hour break, then finals at 4pm. The crew were all feeling solid and qualified as such. Jill 1st, Bryn 4th and Lars 13th. After a quick break it was time to get to racing. All three riders made it through the first rounds and were warmed up ready for battle. After winning the first lap in the second round, Lars made a couple crucial mistakes which cost him the advantage and was eliminated by RSA's Andrew Neethling. Bryn went on to eliminate Andrew in the nex round, He continued on to face Jared Graves who edged him out, and eventually went on for the win. In the consolation round Bryn had a heated battle with Danny Hart. Bryn ended up 4th place for the day and on the Podium. Jill continued to prove her 1st place qualifying position and consistently sprinted across the line first against each challenger. She did not lose a round, and took the day's victory.

Sunday was DH day. The riders all took a few practice runs and Quickly set to work. Jill ran first and came across the line with a time just off the pace and rolled into 2nd place for the day. Lars was next in and came in with a time a few seconds off pace and ended up 17th for the day. Bryn was next can flew in with a time that was good enough to hold up to 4th place overall. Transition Factory Racing: Jill Kintner takes PRO GRT win

Transition Factory Racing: Jill takes PRO GRT win. Bryn 5th, and Lars 14th in mens.
This weekend marked the beginning of the 2011 season in North America with the first stop of the PRO GRT series in Port Angeles, WA.
The Transition Racing crew arrived on thursday for track walk and setup. The forcast was calling for a mixed bag over the weekend, and everyone kept waiting for the weather to roll in. We would eb kept on the edge of our seats so to speak until finals time on Sunday however. Until then we were shined upon by the sun for the first time in what seemed like all winter. The track benefited from the warmth and rays by gettin faster and tackier every day. The Transition squad were enjoying themselves in practice and having a good time catching up with everyone from the from the off season.
The course was getting raved about and before we new it it was quali time. All three riders made it down safe with Jill in the lead, Bryn in 4th, and Lars in 9th.

Sunday morning brought cloudy skies and the ever looming threat of rain was the buzz all day. After a single practice run it was time to wait for the amateur categories to finish their racing. With over 400 racers at 1 minute intervals it takes quite a while till race time for the Pro's.By the time it was time for the team to race the rain had started drastically changing the conditions of the track. Jill was the first team member to come down, and took a hard earned victory over a solid field of ladies.

Lars was the next down and after a few off the pedal squirrelouts settled into 14th place overall. Last down was Bryn who had a close encounter with a tree in his run but still managed to make the podium in 5th place. All in all it was a solid start to the season, with some challenging race conditions.

the team is now off to the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, Ca. See you there!

Bryn Atkinson dropped us a few lines after last weekends race!

Hey Guy's,

Just a quick update on the weekend in Port Angeles. Little wet and wild for yesterday's race, It rained all day, a little cold too.. I took a little detour in my Final run and hit a tree, not super sweet.. Finished 5th. Healthy and dialled, onto the Otter.

Jill smashed it, laid down a pretty good time in comparison to the men, 1st place for the little lady. Lars was a little wobbly in his run finishing 14th, but is riding well, we are all ripping, so good times ahead.

Our bikes are feeling really solid for this years racing!

Thanks for the support Yo!!
